L´equinàcia és una planta originària de Nord-amèrica, que s’utilitzava ja des de fa segles per les tribus índies L´equinàcia té efectes antiinflamatoris, analgèsics, antivírics i antibacterians. Estimula també la producció d’interferó i activa les cèl·lules T i Natural Killer, totes elles pertanyents al grup dels glòbuls blancs.
Es caracteritza per ser una de les plantes més utilitzades a fitoteràpia per prevenir i combatre malalties típiques de la tardor o l’hivern com la grip, refredats i faringitis, entre d’altres.
